Four months ago, he was behind bars facing multiple charges with no hope of freedom with his future in the music industry looking bleak. But only a few days after he was released on bail by the Lebowakgomo Magistrates Court, things started picking up for the man referred to as president ya ma 2k. Lehlogonolo Chauke (28) who is also known as Shebeshxt was already being booked to perform at gigs within a week of his release. As it stands, he currently has over 50 bookings this festive season in different parts of the country.
Born in Lebowakgomo in Limpopo, Shebeshxt has been in trouble with the law since he was 15 years old with reports of substance abuse. In the recent case, the 'Malume' hitmaker was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault GBH. He was already on bail in another assault matter where he allegedly stabbed three people and his bail was revoked.
A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority in Limpopo Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said that the musician also faces two counts of discharging a firearm in a public area. He allegedly fired four shots in the air at a house in Ga-Mamaola village next to Lebowakgomo in April this year."The accused went to a certain family residence looking for their relative, when the family members told him that the person he was looking for ran away, the accused discharged his firearm, shooting upwards. In the second incident, the accused discharged a firearm at another family residence when he went to look for a member of that family when he was informed that the person he was looking for was not there, Malabi-Dzhangi said. Last year, he allegedly stabbed a complainant once on his back with a knife in Lebowakgomo, in another case, he allegedly stabbed a person with a knife three times on his lower left arm, back of the neck, and next to his ribs in October last year. Earlier this year, he allegedly stabbed another person in the head with a knife. He is currently out on bail.
Shebeshxt shared his gig guide for the festive a week ago which showed more than 50 bookings until January 1st. He will be performing in different provinces, If what he said on Podcast and Chill with MacG is anything to go by, the singer will take home over R2 million in the next few weeks. HE told MacG during the interview that he charges R20 000 and more per performance. The Podcast which was aired a month ago, reached 1 million views in two days and 2.1 million within a month. The singer also said during the interview that jail has changed him warning the youth to stay away from crime. He also signed a deal with Italian-based company Lamborghini Wines. Announcing his deal on X, Shebeshxt wrote: "Ka Time, Ka Nako! That moment is now. President ya ma 2k looking and feeling good in a suite. I present to you a gift box brought to you by Lamborhini. Get champagne glasses and let's pop," It's also reported that he is in the studio with DJ Maphorisa after they met ahead of the Porryland and Paptaland Back 2 Back concert on New Year's Day where he will make an appearance at the concert. The Ambulance singer also released a single Asilali with Dr Malinga. Dr Malinga also credited the Limpopo singer for getting more gigs because of their collaboration. Overwhelmed by the support since his release from jail, Shebeshxt said: "I appreciate the love and support from you all. Some call you 'fake fans' while others say we won't last in this game. But 2023 will be remembered as a Cinderella Moment "Extraordinary Transformation).
